AUBURN — The DeKalb Chamber Partnership went live Friday with a website of videos promoting DeKalb County.
The website, WelcomeToDeKalbCounty.com, features several short films promoting communities, events and businesses around the county. The DeKalb Chamber Partnership sponsored a breakfast and premiere showing of several of the videos at NCG Auburn Cinema Friday morning.
Shannon Carpenter, executive director of the chamber, said she hopes the local community will use the website for promoting the area, calling the website a “great tool” for telling DeKalb County’s story.
“We want it to be the ‘go-to’ for people for people looking into DeKalb County,” Carpenter said.
Currently, the website hosts videos on the county as a whole, the DeKalb County Airport, Auburn Essential Services, “Things to Do,” the city of Butler and and a few other topics.
Each page features information on businesses and events featured in the videos, including links and maps. Carpenter said she hopes companies will use the website specifically for recruitment purposes, giving potential employees a feel for what the area is like.
The website is a working project, Carpenter said, and more videos and content will be added over time.
“This is meant to be evolving, just like our community is,” Carpenter said.
The DeKalb Chamber Partnership teamed up for the videos with Crosspointe Studios, a company that specializes in promoting small communities. John Gootee, vice president and partner of Crosspointe, attended Friday’s premiere event.
“(With the videos) now you can say, ‘Let me show you my community,’” Gootee told the group assembled at NCG Cinema.
A video on WelcomeToDeKalbCounty.com shows the DeKalb County Courthouse, with a scene from the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Automobile Museum as a backgroup.
