It’s great fun to listen when away from the airport and it can be a great teaching tool. There is also an option to replay archived blocks of time should you want to listen to your radio comms or research a specific timeframe. This leads me to my point. Staff has been doing a lot of listening. We have heard some really wonky radio work and what appeared to be some miscommunications causing near misses or otherwise close-calls. I might suggest that we double-down on our radio procedures. If you are teaching, this is especially important. Please make all calls and if you are uncertain about the intentions of another aircraft, start talking to them. There is absolutely nothing wrong with asking for clarification even if you are fairly certain you know what the intentions of the other aircraft are. It’s better to make too many calls, to repeat information too often, and to double check your double check, than it is to have a mishap. Thank you for indulging me as I do my airport guy thing…
