Auburn, IN – The DeKalb County Airport Authority (DCAA) is dedicated to guiding the Airport toward a future that aligns with the evolving needs of our community. Building on the legacy of previous Boards, who have skillfully overseen DeKalb County Airport’s growth through master planning and strategic development, we continue to position the facility as a vital asset for regional progress.
Recent advancements, including the runway extension and the introduction of Sweet Aviation as our Fixed Base Operator (FBO), mark a pivotal moment in our journey. Now, it’s time to share our story with a broader audience and showcase the airport’s enhanced capabilities. Equally important to us is preserving our local heritage—a value deeply rooted in our community.
To support these objectives, the Board has undertaken an extensive process to select a new name for the airport—one that is distinctive, resonates with our local identity, and appeals to both the general aviation and business communities. After careful consideration, we are proud to announce the proposed new name: Auburn-DeKalb Executive Airport.
This name reflects our commitment to attracting business travelers with our 7,105-foot runway and year-round, all-weather capability. It sends a clear message: we are ready to support your business needs whenever you are.
While we are excited about this name, we want to allow the community to provide feedback during the open comment period over the next 30 days. Your input is valuable, and any significant responses will be addressed at our September meeting, at which point we will decide whether to officially instate Auburn-DeKalb Executive Airport as our new name.
