OUR MISSION STATEMENT
The DeKalb County Airport Authority provides a safe, efficient and cost effective environment for air transportation while contributing to and generating economic benefit by acting as a gateway to and from DeKalb County and the region. We promote aviation, both corporate and private, affording convenient and diverse travel options along with community events for the area citizens.

The DeKalb County Airport maintains 39 T-Hangar style and 5 larger box hangar style structures for rent. Currently there are no available hangars, however, if you join our waiting list, one may be yours soon.

✈️ PILOT SPOTLIGHT: JACOB
For Jacob, flying is something he’s dreamed about for as long as he can remember.
His connection to Auburn-DeKalb Executive Airport started long before he became a professional pilot. Growing up just a mile south of the airport, Jacob spent his childhood watching airplanes fly overhead and dreaming of one day being in the cockpit himself.
That dream started to become a reality in 2012, when Jacob began an internship with Russ during his junior year of high school. The following year, as a high school senior, he began working toward his private pilot’s license with Lara Gaertre at DeKalb Airport.
After college, Jacob returned to DeKalb Airport in 2015 and began flying with Metal Technologies, where he continues to fly today. The company’s flight department currently operates a Citation XLS+ and a Gulfstream G280.
When asked what he loves most about flying, Jacob says it’s the opportunity to see God’s creation from a completely different perspective. 🌎
And when it comes to DeKalb Airport, the choice has always felt natural.
“I had never thought of going to any other airport.”
For Jacob, it’s the combination of great amenities, instrument approaches, and the hometown feel that makes DeKalb Airport special.
He also knows he can count on the airport team, especially during the winter months, when runway and taxiway conditions matter most.
“Russ and his team is the best,” Jacob shared. “It is reassuring during the winter months to call him and know that he will have the runway and taxiways in great condition for us.”
From watching airplanes overhead as a kid to flying corporate jets from the same airport he grew up next to, Jacob’s story is a pretty perfect example of how an airport can become part of someone’s life and career.
